Postdoctoral Research Fellow position at the Department of Biomedicine

At the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Biomedicine, a full-time (100 %) position as postdoctoral research fellow is available for a period of three (3) years. The position is part of the project ”FLICKRPRINT”, financed by The Research Council of Norway.

About the project/work tasks:

  • To establish and employ in-vitro and in-cellulo model systems for studying RNA-protein biomolecular condensates.
  • Analyse condensates using flicker spectroscopy to obtain precise measurements of their mechanical properties such as surface tension and bending rigidity across a range of physical conditions such as temperature and molecular concentrations.
  • The project will entail various cell and molecular biology techniques as well as an essential role in working closely with collaborators in soft matter physics for data analysis.

Qualifications and personal qualities:

  • The applicant must hold a Norwegian PhD or an equivalent degree within molecular biology, cell biology, experimental soft matter or other relevant field, or have the doctoral thesis submitted prior to the application deadline. It is a condition of employment that the PhD has been awarded at the latest within 5 months after the closing date for applications.
  • Work independently and in a structured manner, and have the ability to cooperate with others.
  • Proficiency in both written and oral English.

Special requirements for the position: Experience with experimental research in condensate biology is essential. Experience in experimental techniques required to interrogate condensates such as confocal microscopy, cell culture, in-vitro condensate biochemistry and standard techniques in molecular biology is essential. 

About the position of postdoctoral research fellow:

The position of postdoctoral research fellow is a fixed-term appointment with the primary objective of qualifying the appointee for work in top academic positions. You cannot be employed as a postdoctoral fellow for more than one fixed term period at the same institution.

The employee may be assigned required duties in the form of teaching and similar work at the department.

  • Salary NOK 624 500 (code 1352, pay grade 64) in the state salary scale. For applicants with a degree in Medicine or Dentistry, salary NOK 624 500 (code 1352, pay grade 64). For applicants with a medical specialization, salary NOK 646 000 (code 1352, pay grade 66).
