The Department of Psychology is one of seven units of the Faculty of Social Sciences, and has 75 permanent and 70 temporary members of scientific staff. Degrees are offered at bachelor and master level, plus a clinical training programme, and the PhD programme has 140 students.

A 3-4 year position as Postdoctoral Fellow at the Section for Clinical Psychology, Department of Psychology, University of Oslo, is open for candidates with a PhD in Psychology. The section carries responsibilities for the Department’s research, teaching, innovation and communication in clinical psychology. Teaching assignments for the suited fellow will primarily be at the clinical training program at the Department.

More about the position

The appointment is a fulltime position for a period of three or four years. Postdoctoral fellows appointed for a period of four years are obliged to contribute to teaching and administration with 25 % of their working time, and to acquire basic pedagogical competency as part of this duty.

The successful applicant will be selected on the bases of educational background, publication record, strong interest in clinical psychology, and a high quality project proposal within a research area relevant to the Section for Clinical Psychology. Applicants are encouraged to contact a research group leader or faculty staff member at the Section for Clinical Psychology to discuss project plans and possible cooperation.

Qualification requirements

  • Applicants must hold a degree equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree in psychology (PhD). The doctoral dissertation must have been submitted for evaluation prior to the closing date. The appointment is dependent on the public defence and the doctoral thesis being approved.
  • The candidate’s research focus must be relevant to ongoing research activities of research groups or faculty staff members within the Section for Clinical Psychology. Sufficient experience with the research methods and data analyses relevant for the proposed research project is required.
  • Applicants must be able to work independently and in a structured manner, and have strong ability to cooperate with others.
  • Fluent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Candidates with existing skills or strong motivation for mastering Norwegian/Scandinavian language will be preferred.

  • A research project description of max. 8 pages detailing project ideas including a progress plan for the project, and the candidate’s contributions within the proposed research project.

  • A complete list of publications.
  • Copies of educational certificates (academic transcripts only).
  • A list of 2-3 references (name, relation to candidate, e-mail and phone number).
