Job description

A temporary position is available at the Section for Health-, Developmental- and Personality Psychology (HUP) at the Department of Psychology for an Research Officer in the subject area of developmental psychology. This position is a 40-60% position available for 12 months only.

The position will be to be part of a current project evaluation of Tuning in to Kids (TIK) in FUS kindergartens running from January 2019. – March 2021.

The Research officer will conduct research duties during the second year of the evaluation under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, Associate Professor Sophie Havighurst. This is a randomized controlled trial of TIK for kindergarten teachers in 49 FUS kindergartens.

The successful candidate is expected to undertake project management tasks involved in the research evaluation of the TIK FUS project. This includes overseeing all data collection during the implementation and evaluation phases of the project, liaison with project staff including FUS kindergarten leadership, managing the REK/NSD ethics, overseeing data collection including use of Nettskjema and TSD data systems, conducting all preliminary data cleaning, screening and analyses, preparation and participation in writing up of publications, documenting the research protocol and contribution to writing a final project report. The candidate will oversee students and research assistants doing data collection during the face to face data collection in kindergartens in May and June 2020.

Qualification requirements and skills

  • A Masters in Psychology or equivalent with experience in conducting psychological research
  • Documented pedagogical skills
  • Documented skills in project management including experience and proficiency with Nettskjema, TSD and REK/NSD syst
  • Competence with SPSS and data analysis
  • Fluent oral and written communication skills in English and a Scandinavian language
  • Experience in journal paper writing

  • Capacity to juggle multiple tasks
  • Ability to oversee and direct students/research assistants in a supportive manner
